The new NHS Personal Health Budget Scheme will give more choice of where equipment can be bought as well as a detailed care plan catering for individual needs, ensuring a more joined-up approach, which is a key aim of NHS England’s Five Year Forward View. The NHS Personal Health Budget is an amount of money assigned to an individual to support your health and well-being needs. This will be planned and agreed between you (or someone who represents you) and your local NHS team. The care plans will go beyond purchasing your equipment including maintenance, repair and replacement. Click on the links below to find out more information. A personal wheelchair budget is a resource available to support people’s choice of wheelchair, either within NHS commissioned services or outside NHS commissioned services. Personal wheelchair budgets enable postural and mobility needs to be included in wider care planning and can support people to access a wider choice of wheelchair.
